Timeraiser 2011!

Happy to report that I have work in this year’s 3rd Annual Edmonton Timeraiser event!

This is a brilliant idea: it brings together non-profit organizations, volunteers, and artists … and everyone benefits.

The idea is simple.
Timeraiser sends out an annual call to artists – the submissions are reviewed and selected by a jury, and Time raiser pays up to $1000 to the artists selected for their work. The art selected by the jury is auctioned off at an annual Timeraiser event … but NOT for money. People ‘purchase’ the artwork through the auction by bidding volunteer hours to be worked at one or more organizations represented at the Timeraiser. SO – artists get paid for their work, non-profits get skilled, eager volunteers, and the volunteers get an original work of art, that they spend a year ‘paying for’ by giving their time to an organization that needs the support.

Everyone involved benefits … what’s not to love about this??

SO … get your tickets, and get involved!  There’s a great variety of organizations for which you can volunteer … it’s worth it in so many ways to contribute actively to your community. And in this case, at the end of a year – you get a work of art!

Speaking of which … this is the work of mine that will be available through Timeraiser 2011:

(a new) bed of nails plaster, beeswax, acrylics, oils, hand forged nails, copper wire, on board.  24″ x 48″

Hope to see you there!
