Upcoming Residency and Workshop

I will be heading out to the East Coast soon!

I’ve been  accepted to a 2 week Research and Development Residency for a new project in Nova Scotia.

I’ll be in Parrsboro, on the shores of the Bay of Fundy for a couple of weeks – excited to be spending some time on this beautiful shore again, and looking forward to getting up to Joggins as well, to visit the Fossil Cliffs and The Fossil Centre there too!

While I’m out there, I will be conducting a 2-session workshop on Gel Transfer Printmaking at Main & Station, who are the lovely folks who offer the Residency program I will be attending.

Looking forward to getting started on this new project, and to facilitating the workshop.

If you’re going to be in the Parrsboro area July 13 – 15, I hope you can join us at Main & Station!

Working on a Talk …

It seems I’ve become a desk jockey this last while!

I’ve been busy with a number of things that have kept me from the studio, but most of them have concerned getting things written (good thing I got me some “book-larnin’ ” in that department a while ago … never thought the English degree would be so useful!)

To what end have I been chained to my old desk, you ask?

… and now, back to the planning!

Fall is Coming … Time for some Nesting!

In addition to working away (still) in the studio, I’m preparing to teach a one-day workshop at Harcourt House this Fall, with my friend and fellow artist Stacey Cann.

We will be facilitating the creation and placement of some random acts of art … in particular, the building of nests from repurposed materials and the “bombing” of the downtown area with these little gems. The goal is to have some  real fun working with these beautiful forms, to create little sculptures that say a bit about how each of us conceive of nests – and ideas of home, safety, comfort, and so on – and then share our creations, in the hope that someone will come across them in the future, and pause … perhaps smile, and enjoy the moment the work has prompted.

Looking Toward Spring …

While I know it was inevitable, I am still not completely reconciled to the reality of the real winter weather and cold that has come so hard and fast here … and so I am indulging in a little escapism, and letting you know about something I will be doing in the Spring.

I will be teaching a three-evening workshop at Harcourt House this April, starting on the 16th. See below for details, and contact Harcourt House directly to register. I hope to see some of you there – looking forward to playing and creating together!
